before the year is out. Any and all suggestions are welcome. I was thinking of doing a 50/50 raffle - half the proceeds to go CAST for Kids, while the rest gets reinvested into the site. (Frankly the increased visits hasn't translated into anything to help me break even ) And I will say that there would certainly be more than enough to give away - I was almost thinking of doing a '12 Days of Christmas' sort of thing, where one name will be drawn a day for 12 consecutive days, for 12 different prizes - the higher end prizes being some lures donated by Jan Eggers. Thoughts?

Me too, we need something to keep people posting because most sites almost die during the winter months

i like it, but maybe as an entry, instead of just being a member, or posting, what if everyone sends ted there favorite lure, new of course. would help keep the coffers full for giveaway lures for the site, dont think we have enough active members to acually give away one lure the first day ect ect to 12 on the 12th day, thats like 78 lures. but mix it up with a 50/50 raffle and the winner gets half of the lures sent in?? just tossing out ideas here. i really wish we had enough members to do the whole 12 days thing, i would be happy winning.... 5 golden Countdowns LOL

And as far as 'raffle tickets' well, Paypal is universal, and most people do have them nowadays, for ebay or whatever. I do want to implement something, but time is drawing near where I have to put something together, but Ive got vacation coming up, and I wont be around or near a computer for over a week. The last thing Id want to do is do something half-assed too, or some sort of contest where it will require a lot of time needed from members as well, since we know December is a busy month for everyone...

sound good to me, but we need to cover the cost of lures and posting + some, so i guess all depends on how many tickets are sold, could end up just being a chritmas eve draw, but if the money rolls in the sky's the limit , but it would be good to do some thing,

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but the last thing I would want to do it seem like I am putting the squeeze on members here for money. I guess sometimes I am too generous to a fault I guess; I know personally the fun and anticipation there is regarding opening up a package and not knowing what is inside so its that feeling that I like to spread around. But I'll be honest in that I have probably spend over $200 this year in just shipping costs - sadly most of that is due to shipping overseas. I wouldn't mind it so much if it were regularly offset by purchases made through my affiliates and such... Anyway let me see if I can come up with something...but Im sure that I could come up with some nice little prize packages, thats for sure...

Please and thank-you Andy Not sure what you mean...depending on the contest/raffle/ etc, all members are eligible, regardless of location. There are probably more active members here from around the world than active USA members...

I should have mentioned "legal issues" , not being a citizen, having an address in the state where the contest is being held etc....

I mean, if we're just doing a raffle for fun where members are purchasing raffle tickets via PayPal... If I do another one its only to offset costs for hosting, shipping, etc - the other half gets donated to charity www.castforkids.org

Instead of lure donations the PayPal donations would help...definiely for int'l shipping costs...and it definitely helps to be able to snag those lures on clearance when I see them I must have spent over 600.00 at OverStockbait.com in the last couple of months, just stocking up on clearance stuff for giveaways.

I was thinking of doing a '12 days of Christmas' raffle...but I won't have the time to implement it before I leave, and I don't want to rush it or anything.
On the other hand - the raffle prizes on this one will be good, so I wouldnt want to 'rush' the raffle before the end of the year - Im not sure if 3 weeks is long enough to run it - I may ditch the title and call it something else, and run it through the end of January.
One thing is for sure, I have come up with at least 13-14 different prize packages, so there will be a good amt of prizes to go around, none with a value of less than 20.00 (I think) - and one of the top prizes will be some stuff given to me by Jan Eggers.
So this could be a New Year 'kickoff' so to speak, and would give us something to hold our attention during the bleak days of January....
What do you all think?
