I havent fished my flat rap all that much and I have not had any of the lips on my rapalas fail but my brother had his fall off his Minnow Rap on the cast following one on which he caught a pike. I have seen recently that Rapala is starting to make less durable lures in a lot of ways and the trend is actually worrysome. I find it amazing that they think it is alright to simply glue the lip to the surface of the flat rap when they could have just as easily inserted at least an anchoring post or wire into the lure for a little extra strength. The lip on the deep diving x-rap is also quite thin considering the line attaches on the lip. I do also like a lure that shows a few scratches but my reflective glidin' rap is rapidly falling apart just having the flash finish peeling off it in chunks. I have gotten to the point where I have patched at least half the surface area of the lure in tinfoil and fletching cement to maintain at least a shred of it's original fish-catching integrity.

I know that Original Floaters will catch fish without a bill - so I am sure that the Flat Raps will as well! You'll just need weight like split shot or a three way to get the bait down.
This is another prime reason why baits should be cleaned of weeds and/or debris by hand and not "slapped" on the water!

The flatrap workes well also. like a very shallow twitching rap or subwalk.

Same problem on them in the UK, the long cast minnows used to be notorious for snapping very easily, tried without success to contact rapala or get a reply, was paying £9.99 each for them at the time but after many breaks was proving too expensive, so went back to the old floaters and cd's, as for replacing the diving veins, any ideas would be welcome, or does rapala manufacture them for sale? Thanks BJA

Yep struggling with all the broken lures why dont Rapala sell replacements probably because they want to sell us all lures up to £10 a pop How about someone organising a on line petetion for 2015 to send to Rapala then maybe they will listen i think its economics or pure greed what does everyone else think
