Last winter i fished for gag grouper in the Gulf, but not with rapalas, This winter i'm gonna be using some rapalas out in the gulf I'm planning on using 50-lb spiderwire, on my muskie rod, think this will be enough, as long as I dont horse the fish?

Should be, unless the grouper swallows the hook and gags Actually, I don't know. Don't do much ocean fishing here. From what I have seen, they use some pretty heavy stuff in the ocean, but then I have seen one show where they were using bass gear. Probably depends on what you are fishing for and what you might catch as well. Also, I don't know how fresh water gear would handle saltwater. Don't know if it would hose up your reel Check out some saltwater fishing sites, they might be able to give you some good info.

I dont worry about the reel, I clean it off everyday after fishing saltwater.

i never tried to fish in the ocean 'cause i'm italian and i've all around mediterranean sea but i think it would be so exciting have a blue marlin at the other side of the line...maybe i'll try this experience during the travel i'm planning in the U.S.A.....
