I just added this DRFR-7 to my collection. Anyone else ever seen any others like this? This is the first DRFR-7 in the old OCW pattern that I have seen. Any info on this?

I would imagine it is a proto-type and that OCW just never made it to mass production in the DFRF-7 series. Would be nice to hear Jason or Bacon's take on this.

not sure what to make of that one, either the eyes were forgotten, or maybe wore off if the overcoat was forgotten. unlikely being that rapala usually had pretty good QC, especially back when this lure was being made. but i have to speculate a little about this that maybe when the color was first introduced, they considered skipping the eyes since it is a craw lure and craws have eyes on the other end, so the eyes are moot. its a trend that you might have notice on other lure makers over the years. however the crawdad pattern has been around forever and it always has had eyes as far as know, so im guessing this is either a proto/trial lure or just a flat out oops, or it could have also been modified, but knowing walleye270, he would have figured that out on his own.

Hi John,
Yes, this is a RFR-7 OCW 1st gen. I know they produced these in the RFR's but to my knowledge, not in the DRFR's. The lure looks a little dirty, but it is definitely legit. I was just wondering if anyone seen any other DRFR's in this color.
