OK, this is my last one...
The "Holy Grail" of the Fat Raps!
Since the original Fat Rap was introduced in 1977, I'm guessing the Salmon Specials were released at the same time or sometime not long after that. They were available for a very short time--only a year or two. In the Salmon Specials I have, the inserts either have a date of 1977 but don't specifically list the Salmon Special (but list the Fat Rap), or have a date of 1978 and DO specifically list the Salmon Special (and the Fat Rap). Kinda interesting...in the 1978 inserts, the SS-5 retailed for $3.95, and the SS-7 for $4.75. I wonder what would happen if I sent in an order for 100 of each size and color to the address listed...wishful thinking. One of the SS-5 SFC's I have has an original sticker with a price of .99 cents!
Salmon Special Fat Rap SS-5 A mid-sized Fat Rap at 5 cm (2") and 3/8 oz. They have two No. 4 hooks and a swimming depth of 5-7 ft.
Salmon Special Fat Rap SS-7 A larger Fat Rap at 7 cm (2 3/4") and 1/2 oz. They have two No. 3 hooks and a swimming depth of 7-9 ft.
Candidates (all of them): B - Blue GFR - Gold Fluorescent Red SFC - Silver Fluorescent Chartreuse
The Winner: B - Blue. You don't see a lot of any of these, but the Blue seems to be seen the least.
Thoughts???
