Hello All, We've just came across an older Rapala in one of the groups of lures we bought. At least we think it's older? Any information regarding the lure would be much appreciated - when made? rarity? or lack of rarity? I know the pics aren't great, but it's late and the lighting isn't great (that's my excuse anyway). It has the gold foil with the stars and looks to have hand-painted gill marks? Also the "FINLAND" on belly and "Original RAPALA" on the lip. Not looking to sell it, just looking for any info. We'll try posting pics, but haven't done it before on this board. Hopefully it's similar to Joe's board. Thanks in advance for your time and any info. Timmy & Coll

There is a few guys on here that can give you a way better answer than me . But Id have to say that it is likely pretty old . You dont find to many that have the stars in the foil . If you can get your pics up it would be alot easier to identify .

Howdy Timmy & Coll
I'll try to give you what information I can. First, without a box, it will be rather hard to put an exact date on the lure.
But if safe to say that it's more than likely an 1960's era lure. the star foil is a great detail to have in a Rapala lure, the handpainted gills, another great detail.
The black mfg markings are another thing to look for.
Now the other side of the coin, Rapala floaters, can sometimes bring in a reasonable price. Now, if you had the box, paperwork I would be able to get you a little more info based on the info I could see and get from the box and paperwork.
There are different styles of boxes for the floaters. The paperwork sometimes has little details to look for.
Another thing would be the condition of the lure and/or box. But you already know that (seeing that you know about Joe's board)
Well, that's about all I can add. It is a NICE looking example of an older Rapala 'star' foiled floater.

Thanks to all you help provide us with info!!! We're gonna have to start a new case for Rapalas now. We probably won't pursue them hard, but will just add the "interesting" ones we come across. And we'll have to spend a little more time on the board and educate ourselves about Rapalas.
Thanks again!!!
