Hi guys, I was wondering if it would hurt anything if i took the center hooks off the F-13 for fishing, Seems the center hooks make a mess of the fish i catch, So i thought i would take them off, Then i thought it may change the action,

Taking the middle hook off should not affect the action much, if at all. I know a lot of walleye fishermen who take the middle hook off all the time because of what it does. Plus, when un-hooking the fish, you have less to catch your own hands on. I think I actually catch more fish without the middle hook. JMHO.

hello.
we have done this with F18s for pike. no difference and a lot easier to let fish go (if you also remove the barbs).
if you are concerned about the action, you could use two slightly bigger hooks (most people change the trebles anyway) and get back on the same weight with 2 hooks that had been in the 3.
and if you want to do it perfect, buy one of these small scales which allow to weigh down to 0.05 gram differences, get the weight of the 3 original hooks and replace with 2 of identical weight.
good luck, wolfgang

I always remove the middle hooks on the F-11 when trolling for Trout in the spring of the year and it dosen't seem to affect the action at all. Also makes it a heck of alot easier to unhook the fish.I remember reading an article some time ago that mentioned the 3 trebles can sometimes work against each other resulting in lost fish.Don't know if its true or if the guy who wrote it was blowing smoke.

Hello guys, Thank you very much for the info, I am in to the catch & release big time, I am sure from what you all said it would be a good thing to take off the center hooks, & Wolfgang, never thought of doing away with the barbs, But that is one great thing to do and i will do that to, That will take away the real damage to the fishes mouth, Thanks,
