Picked this beautiful lure up at a small tackle store, he said he's had it since he opened his store, finally talked him into selling it for 15 bucks. I can't find ANY info on this lure, any info is greatly appreciated. I'm sure it's discontinued, it comes in an old Rapala box and the box looks like it's hardly ever been touched, I can't believe how good of condition it's in. He must have REALLY loved this Rapala. another pic. I think these old boxes look better than the new ones. These are almost like a teal color Attachments:

Here's all the lures I got from the small tackle shop today, I think it was a decent find. He didn't have any Ristos though. Attachments:

Awesome, Yeah I was really happy about finding the clowns and the Minnow, but I wasn't sure about the SFR. I didn't know what it was. Thanks for the info though, I love learning about old Rapalas. How much do people usually get out of them? I don't plan on selling it, just curious.

i see them go go for between 5 to 15 but it all depends on the day but some day could get wild if 2 or more collectors would love to have maybe up to 20

I see, so it's not really that rare. Is it common to find them in this condition? I figured the way the tackle shop owner didn't wanna sell it meant that it was rare or something...lol

hi all.
well, we have (at least) 2 different types of rapala: old and rare which get lots of money, and old and rare which do not get lots of money.
if you judge rarity only by price, the GFR (or punainen red as you call it) is not rare, but if you go by age, color, condition of box, etc, it definitely is a rare one.
this is one more reason why i like the vintage rapala so much; you can get really rare ones at prices sometimes lower than a new one.
i saw John buying a lot with 2 CD13 G in there at a little over $20.
and i bought several MAG13 BM at somewhere around $5 each. the price on these said $4.95 (written by hand) this means these were coming from a shop which even didnt have a machine to print price stickers at the time they hang them on the shelfs ...
best, wolfgang

Thanks Wolfgang, I think I understand now. It's not a really hot item on Ebay so it's probably not gonna bring much cash, but that doesn't mean a collector doesn't want it.
As I've said before, I've never been interested in making money off selling Rapalas. Every Rapala lure in my tacklebox is worth more to ME than what somebody would pay for it. My situation is, some Rapala lures (crankbaits and Risto Raps) are more useful to me than a discontinued lure. So I've always been the type that would rather trade my lures. (That way I'm just getting more Rapalas)
It makes no sense to me to make a quick buck off somebody on Ebay that I'll never talk to again. If I trade my lures to people on this site, I can still see my lures from time to time, and I know that my Rapala has found a good home...lol
