Hey folks, what's going on? New guy on the lake and I want to get some info on some jointed shad raps. I have been trying to get some discontinued models on Ebay. I have found a couple silver bass and pearl white, what others should I be looking for that are no longer available at retail? Thanks for any help you can provide. -Chad

Thanks bacon... Question, what do sfc and gfr mean? Sorry, need help with the acronymns.
Also, I have a question that I hope someone can answer for me. I ordered some JSRs off of Cabela's site and got them in yesterday. Two of them are a JSR-5 BOS and JSR-5 BBS. The strange is that these have the standard silver hooks where the BOF has the bleeding red hooks. Is that standard or did I get an error?

OK, figured out what GFC & SFC means I did find a JSR -5 on the SFC for $7.99 BIN + $3 shipping on Ebay so I snagged one, figured that was a decent price. I noticed that they also made Bluegill (BG) but I have not found that one at any stores around here, is it discontinued? Can't find any on Ebay or the GFC. Thanks for all the help, sorry for all the questions but I'm still learning as I go. -Chad

Hi Chad.
well, learning from each other is all, almost all, we are here for ...
i am no expert on JSR, but i got 3 in SBB some time ago for a guy who was desperately looking for them; when he heard the prices the JSR is selling for here in GERMANY (about $14 each with current exchange rate), he was not so desperate anymore (and nether bought them). the SFC and also the GFR i think was some time ago a "european only" color, but now a lot seem to have made it over the pond; or they are even listed in the US now.
i do not think any JSR colors have been discontinued, the most used ones just get harder to find; but as i said, no expert on JSR.
maybe one day i will even go out and fish one ... LOL
best, wolfgang

Thanks for the info, Wolfgang, I appreciate it. I have had lots of luck fishing for bass with JSRs, especially when trolling. Old neighbor / fishing buddy showed me the light... LOL

Welcome aboard! Jointed Shad Rap in Bluegill you say? Interesting..but I think you might want to double check that one I would say of the 3 that the GFR Gold Fluorescent Red is probably the toughest to come across. I actually do have a few that I have just getting ready to list on fee-bay, if you're interested: JSR-07 Hot Tiger Perch HTP JSR-05 Silver FLuorescent Chartreuse JSR-05 Pearl White (PW) Shoot me a PM or send me an email @ RapalaNation@gmail.com

well now ted, dont you feel a little sheepish. LOL. to be honest, i couldnt think of a GB JSR either, but it doesnt surprise me that there are some out there, and that someone on here found it. seems like something rapala would do, make a bluegill colored lure and market it to europe, where the bluegill is not prominent, but over here, they are some of the best forage fish for our bass and pike and we wont get them. bacon

Thanks for all the info, folks. Is hot tiger perch the same as hot perch? Cabela's has them in stock, I ordered them online. And thanks for the link on the bluegill, that's where I remember seeing that one... www.rapalanation.com/index.cgi?bo....ead=3279&page=2-Chad

Are you interested in them for fishing or collecting? I only buy the JSR's for fishing, and the patterns that have been most successful for me on largemouth bass are Blue Shad and Perch. I've got some in several different sizes, but size 5 seems to entice the most bites, from pip-squeak to hawg, it seems to be the size they prefer. Don't know if that helps.

I use them for fishing, I have had luck with the Parrot and baby bass models. I haven't had a chance to use the perch, yellow perch or hot perch models yet but I bet they work just as well. Lots of large mouth, white bass fishing around these parts, good stuff...
This is a sweet forum, thanks for all your help folks!

Not sure at all, but I was looking at that yesterday and all I can come up with is that it looks like a perch/baby bass combination.
