I just traded a carpreel for a Classic High End Spinning Rod.
A Silstar Royal Class Spinning 2,70 9 grams casting weight!
This rod was only in production for one year and was build by using a hardy blank!
I am a happy man!

Yes, nice Shot! Silstar was sold in the mid 90's and they had some good stuff for that time. I'm sad about they don't make a lot of great rods anymore. It's hard to find them on the market in good condition. Anyone can remember the first Shimano Diaflash Series for lightweight and delicate Presentation or the Powermesh Series from Daiwa? Damn cool stuff.

Yeah, those shimano's were great! I had a green technium diaflash one! now I am using a modern black/grey technium diaflash 2011 model! they did improve!! you should give it a try!
I just found another great silstar fosile! a Traverse-X spinning 2,40 C7 !! great for perch fishing!!!!
I love the early and mid 90's Silstar rods!!

i loved silstar when i was 14 or 15. it was cheap, and could be found easily. then it disappeared...
i still have a couple of their reels. one is broken, but i'm not willing to dump it.

Most Silstars were cheap indeed! but they had some really expensive models, such as the Royal Class, traverse-X, Powerwind, Boron and the Diaflex models. They went out of business in '94 and the company was bought and restarted in '96 but they never made rods like they did before. altough the Connect models were acceptable.
If you are looking to buy a really high-end rod for a small price, try to find the old ones that sometimes pass by on ebay for takeaway prices. the old ones are great! but never go for the newer models.
