Sooo... where to start? Just a few days ago I got bored and made three minnow traps, two out of pop bottles and one out of a milk jug. I've been using them to catch bait minnows (bullhead minnows) in the pond across the street. While doing this I found out that there is a large quantitiy of big leeches that come into the shallows at night and so I have also caught well over three dozen and have them in my fridge for walleye bait. Just yesterday I caught a nice rainbow on ultra-light gear and an x-rap 04 in the same pond. Today I went pike fishing and caught six small pike and a tiny perch.

I went out for a quick trip across the street for some trout and got a nice two pound rainbow just over 14 inches which was my first ever on the Rapala ultra-light shad. I am really liking it so far and anticipate catching many more fish with it. The chrome ultra-light shad which was initially inhaled fully into it's mouth but came partially out during the fight.

I went fishing at the pond again for four hours today and caught 17 trout; four with the ultra-light shad and thirteen with a countdown 03 in perch. Most were small, as the pond has been stocked early this week, but two were 16 inches long each. Boy those things fight good on ultra-light tackle! here's one of the small ones One of the big ones kept him for dinner

Went for a little drive this last Sunday to a small mountain creek to try my hand and rod at a different style of fishing than I'm used to. Here are a few pictures of the results. The first rainbow out of three. The third one. Took the first two out of the same pool and went to another pool for the third. I had worked both pools over with a fly and a spinner for a while without even a bite or follow. Then I switched to the chrome ultralight shad and caught the three rainbows in fairly rapid succession before I had to go.
