Hello I have an old Rapala husky that I would like to know what the color is called. I had found it in my grandfather's old fishing box. I've caught a lot of walleye in this bait. but now I dare not fish it anymore because I do not want to lose it. so my question is what is it for color and is it worth anything? sorry for my bad English.   |

hi.
well, i dont know if there is an official color code for this one.
if you compare this to the DRFR-7, it would be a GSD without scales, as we have seen in the HM, PRT, and PSD on this model.
some time ago we had a post about this color on here, and it was called sunking; but as far as i understood, this is not a rapala color, bad a different brand.
i know this is a rare one, in new condition these may be anything between $25-50; never saw one NIB, which i guess would be like around $100 or more.
if somebody has one of these NIB, was it coming in a box saying special?
and as it happens there is an auction for a rapala lot going right now which has one of these in it, and i am afraid it will go high ...

i have to agree with wolfgang on this. i looked several years ago for a friend who loved this lure but only had one left. we could not come up with a code either. but i did send a couple dozen huskys to dutch fork customs and had them chrome then in the same colors, came out awesome, but they are easy to tell apart from the real versions from the chromed area on the side of the lip. GSD is the most likly code for this lure, and wolfgangs values are as good as anything i could have said.

Thanks for those quick responses. I do not know anything about the box has never seen it. I have some Rapala husky without color so I can send them to someone who can chrome. for I must have something like this color. for it is time to retire this bait  |

Here are a couple of Rapala Husky I have to. do not know if it is some special with them the 3rd from left and the one on the right are both custom painted lures already, the two white lures are actually PH i think and not that easy to get, the left most lure is RB and is now much easier to find thanks to the classic collection huskys. the 2 gold lures are SG and are most likely silver plated. if i was going to send a few off to be chromed i would start with the painted lures and then the RB and then the others, based on availability. i have used dutch fork lures several times to do some custom lures for me, and they have dont lures for this site before also, they are very good, but im sure there are others also, there website is www.dutchforklures.com good luck with your lures. bacon |

well, agree again with Jeff ... but did you ever think about putting an orange belly and a green back on these SG huskys? might come close enough anyway ... and a good custom painter might be able to save the red gills and scale, and give you a nice custom GSD.
unfortunately, the lips of the 2 customs are painted in full, these might affect the wobbling action, cause you get some additionl weight on the lip. if possible, i would suggest to try and take this off.
if these PHs are unused, maybe you can find a trade for 2 others to have painted; i just sent out a couple new/no box H13 to Ken, he could be interested in trading for a PH.

I agree with both Jeff and wolfgang - I would send off the SG (the gold chrome with black back - #2 and #3 from the right) and have them customized. I would also check with Walleye 270 (Matt) on this site - he is a Husky Connoisseur. Shame to ruin a PH - I do have some SG's with no boxes I would be willing to part with - maybe even work out a trade?

i had a bunch of these made for a guy in Sweden a few years back. dutch fork customs was able to basically remake these on the new huskys i was able to get back then. you could tell they were remakes from the chrome paint on the lips, but he wanted them for fishing so he was very happy. think i cost about $25 (US) a lure to buy and have the work done, but it was about the only way you could get it done, had an esko made in the same color too, not sure what i did with that.

yeah, i remember that, but i think it was Norway where these H13 went to.
and i also think to remember that we did not find a color code back then in this old post.
to me it is a GSD without scale pattern and gills.
i had some here, also unfished, and i sent these out to Norway.
compared to what some H13 are getting on huuto these days, $25 is dirt cheap ...

When it comes to value I just sold one of these on huuto.net for 15 euros. No box and pretty much unused lure. Listed it for 19 euros for a couple of weeks first but no interest.
