Sounds like fall fishing in the Midwest is starting to heat up just as our tempetures started dropping. Just received a call from my father to said he has been catching a fair number of walleyes and sizable fish in the 21-25 inch range everyday he goes out.
No shock to anyone on the Board who knows me but he is catching them all on Gold Fat Raps. His friends fishing with him have not had near the luck. He also said that other purchased fat raps and are pulling them in the same boat but he gets most of the fish.
Makes me happy to know I still able to supply his favorite lure and color thanks in no small part to folks on this board. He seems to really enjoy retirement.
Side note he did loose a gold fat rap last weekend and got up set but he had his extras in the boat and was right back at it. (Wish I had confidence in just a single bait like he does)

I agree Nathan! With the exception of the cold front that slowed the bite down - the Mississippi River and other lakes here in the midwest are really starting to rock! Your Dad sounds like what I call a "pure" fisherman! Hope he finds enough Gold Fat Raps to keep it going! I am assuming he is fishing tannin stained waters? His friends are probably ignoring the rules and fishing with silver? Best of Luck!

Happy Shad if I didnt know any better I would have guessed you were in the boat with him. But if you were I am sure you would have been catching fish along with him. You're 100% correct on all out accounts. He is fishing stained waters and his friends were using silver or shad colored lures. And I too would describe my father as pure fisherman.
