Hello all just found out about this site after liking on FACE BOOK. I'm looking for some #5-#7 Shad Raps from the late 1990's. Blue and Green holographic and a chrome blue top with orange belly. Just seeing if anyone knows where I can acquire as many of these as possible.
Thanks, Garrett HitnRun

welcome aboard, good news on the lures you want. the holographic shad raps have shown back up to some degree, not quite the same, but pretty close. and the chrome blue has also been seen again in a reborn type of version. pretty sure both are available at fleet farm if you live in the midwest. if you want the old 1990's versions of those lures they would be double or more the price of the new ones and are much harder to find new, slightly less so used. i know the holographic lures are only the blue and black, but also they are made in sizes 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. the silver blue ones are only 5 and 7 i think, maybe only 7. good luck.

Bacon, thanks for the info. Any idea what type of paint or process they used in the older lures like that? As in the chrome paint? I need that shine. Salmo's kindda have the finish as well. I thought it may be cheaper to try and airbrush my own, but have NO IDEA what paint to look for. I bought a taxidermist book that has a bunch of colors of paint but none seem to have that "shiny" chrome base. I did start messing around on Ebay looking for the lures that I mentioned and you are very correct on the prices. Thanks for your time!

not sure what just happened, seems to be something wrong with the site, hope it gets fixed soon. but what i was trying to say was this the older lures are not painted chrome, they are actually plated with genuine silver. in recent years, rapala has quit using silver and started to use other chrome like finishes, but they are still plated, not painted. if you are looking for very good (but pricy) reproductions, check out dutch fork customs. they make everything and are good guys to work with. if you gotta have silver, keep checking ebay and craigslist for old ones, they are sometimes pretty expensive, but sometimes you can get some real steals on used lures. the newer ones at fleet farm are chromed, but not silver. like i said before, they are similar, but not the same. the holographic lures are something else, ive never really figured it out. i dont think they are plated at all, its a series of painted finishes i think and had troubles with flaking off. thats why they were discontinued or so ive heard. dont know how the new holographic lures are with that problem.
