I saw a very short YouTube video featuring the Scatter Rap today. I think it is supposed to mimic the evasive action of a baitfish as its running for its life. The action looked pretty wild from what I saw, but the entire video was only 17 seconds, so I didn't really get to see much. The lip on the lure looks like pretty strange too, from the two seconds I got to see it anyway.

There is a small picture of it on my new BASS issue. I'm guessing they will come in some of the DT's colors. The lip looks different, do you happen to have a link to that video

I've been hearing whispers about it at the tackle shops. Evidently some of them got a preview email. Rapala has been teasing with some ads lately. I was told there will be at least one variety in a shad configuration. I guess we'll know soon since stuff is leaking out.

I had heard that some new stuff was coming out at the Bass Masters Classic? Anxious just to watch the Classic itself - but this will be exciting!

It looks as if though all four versions only come in one size each, but with any bit of success, I am sure they will expand the sizes in a year or two.

I checked out 90collector's URL he gave and have to admit I was a bit amused at what I saw. If there are any members here that can remember when Herter's Inc. was a major player in the mail order outdoor sporting goods business back in the 60's and early 70's; they sold what they called "Herter's New Improved Balsa Wood Floating Model Finland Minnow®"(they also offered a sinking model). This was like the original floater, and what was "improved" about it was that the plastic lip was significantly enlarged...quite significantly, in fact!
That wide lip gave the lure quite a wobble and they were highly effective; but they were also quite fragile! It didn't take much to break that lip off. I tried some of these back in the mid-70's, and they didn't hold up very well. Back then, the 3-1/2" model ran a whopping 90 cents! Who made these for Herter's, I have no idea.
But if you were to take one of these lures and heat the lip up enough to where you would bend it forward and "dish" it a little bit, you would have a lip not unlike the Scatter Rap. So I would consider the design of the Scatter Rap as not so much something new, but based on something that was around in the mid-70's.
Thought I'd share.
Mike

Since most waters I fish are pretty shallow, these will look to be pretty effective.

Finally had the chance to use the new scatter raps. Let's put it this way, If I was in a tournament I would have been in the top 5 of the leader board. I had so much fun catching bass after bass. I lost count. Biggest was 4 pounds. Most were in the 1.5 to 2 pound range. Another great performer was the BX series. I can cast those a country mile. What a blast. Rapala got these right!
