I used (and lost) several gross of Fat Raps, mostly 07 back in the day. My question is this: What lure made today would you say is the closet in action to a Fat Rap made in the '80's/'90's?

Well, I dont know if the new edition of fat rap shows the same action (this some experts on fat rap here should be able to answer) but since this is called the same they should have about the same action. only thing is, not available in all countries; i think some FR-5s made it to the states, all the rest seems to be in finland, thailand, and japan or so.
oh, some SFR-5 made it to germany, but this is not an official route, i think they were officially available only in eastern europe, and asia of course.
most of the new FR-7s as well as the SFR-7s i see from ebay sellers in japan and thailand, but if you need just 1 or 2 to fish with (and are lucky enough to find your color in the new edition) i guess it would be worth to spend a couple more $$ and fish with your olĀ“favorite.
best, wolfgang

You know, I haven't really thought about it before, but there really isn't much out there like the FR-07. If you haven't already, you might want to check out the Bandit Flat Maxx. They are 2 3/4 in. long and 1/2 oz., which is basically what the FR-07 is. They come in Shallow (3-6 feet) and Deep (6-12 feet) models and have a "coffin" lip, which is kind of similar to the original FR-07 lip. The body shape is definitely different and not quite as "fat", but it's still long and slender. I've always been a big Bandit fan. One of my favorite go-to lures is the discontinued Bandit 500 series. www.basspro.com/Bandit-Crankbaits-Flat-Maxx-Shallow-or-Deep/product/56948/

I used to flatline troll FR-07 SFC on a local reservoir for smallmouth and they were deadly! I hung and lost quite a few, as they were readily avaiable. No more........
I have been experimenting with the new Bagleys, some good some not, the Strike King KVD square bills, I kinda like these.
