If you have a favorite metallic color on any Rapala bait or for that matter ANY metallic bait of any brand, discontinued or otherwise, listen to the following tip. There is a substance called "Layout Fluid", "Metal Dye"or "diemaker's ink" that one can use to effectively duplicate any metallic shiny color of any hot bait your can't get anymore. Sold under the Dykem and the Beechum brand names, this is a metal dye that dries in less than 20 seconds, is impervious to removal and if you want to remove it and change colors, all one has to do is use acetone ona rag or cotton ball. Industrial supply houses such as Granger sell it to the tool and die industry. I personlly prefer Kelly Labs of Shelby, Michigan because they have all different colors from red, yellow, white , black, orange, blue in 8 oz. bottles. Every one of my 2000 plus trolling crankbaits from Hot-n-Tots to Bagleys from has a red lip dyed with this stuff because as everyone should know, a red lipped crankbait will out fish a non red billed crank bait 3:1. and any trolling walleye pro fishing LAKE Erie, Saginaw Bay, Green Bay and many other lakes rivers and streams knows it. An 8 oz of this stuff in all the colors has lasted me over 20 years as I put it in small bottles with brushes. I even mix the colors to get new colors like green and purple among others. If somebody asks , I will post a picture of the bottle. No.......don't have any financial interest in promoting this stuff other than my luremaking and modifications of my own cranks baits and as tips to other fishermen. I also use it on ALL my crawler harness spinner blades from #2 to #9 to duplicate exotic colors of my choice. A box of cheap "Q" tips make excellent throw away applicators. Any questions? ASK.......If you are not running crankbaits with red lips......you are missing fish hits. You start with a basic chrome plated bait oR spinner blade AND MAKE IT ANY METALLIC COLOR YOU DESIRE. YELLOW OVER CRhOME OR NICKEL IS A DEAD RINGER FOR GOLD PLATED.
