did anyone of you go out fishing?
in these mornings, since i have to go to a thermal center for some inhalations and there is a little lake near there, i have tried fishing there. i didn't catch very much though, but at least it was relaxing after those tiresome therapies.

Hi, Walt
When I read your post, I was thinking "How can I respond to this guy without winding up blowing my own horn?!?!" But the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius said "He who don't blow horn have dead battery." (Think I read that somewhere!).
Anyway, I retired on June 1, so I can get in significantly more fishing time that previously. I fish large streams/small rivers; strictly catch & release - artificial lures only.
Looking at your post, it looks like your criteria for a successful trip is relaxation.
So going with that, I always had two criteria for a successful trip:
1/ I didn't fall down. 2/ I came back with everything I started out with!
However, in recognition of my recent retirement, I have now added a third.....
3/ I didn't have to get pulled out of there in a body bag!
Take care.
Mike

well, i think your criteria can be applied to me too, since i fall into water a lot of times. sorry for the late answer, i've been away a few days (i got varicella virus and couldn't move). i just went fishing yesterday, caught a bass and lost another one, it's ok this way. i'm quite happy about it. no one else gone fishing? i'd like to see new threads and reports from everyone. it's not facebook which killed forums, it's just people who don't go to the forums. so, please come back

My home lake has been lowered this past months so lakefront owners can make dock repairs - need to get out there soon before it gets too cold!

hi ted!!! if the water is lowered you can also look for lost lures Most of the lures I've lost are probably still hanging on the lips of those damn pickerel cutting my line.

Hi Ted.
ever tried fluorocarbon as a leader? I have now 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, and 100 lbs spools. already the 10 lbs gives you a little abraison resistance, but you have to know even the 100 lbs is not 100% pike-safe. still, I usually use 60 or 80 lbs for pike and have not lost a lure yet (but then I did not catch any over 40 in. lately ...) for pickerel a #20 or #30 should do if you try to keep from too much pressuring. I have used MFR-3 on #20 FC and it works OK. of course, you use the rapala knot with FC (well, actually, I use a short version of this knot which I think is called the non-slip mono loop).
best, Wolfgang
