Ok, so I figured i might as well start one of these for me, to keep the number of topics down, and because most of the other members already have one.
*Feel free to post on this thread*

I figured that I would finally post a picture of my pike/muskie gear, since I've had these pictures forever. I'm sure that my collection will grow in the future, but right now I still have a lot of these lures to still catch some fish on ;D

Finally the ice is gone, and i'm fishing again My lovely shiny reel I tried to make own of those scenic pictures like on the cover of the Rapala magazines Awesome reflections after a day of fishing Why did they discontinue Magnum 5's again? My bright orange magnum 5 through the murky water The picture does not do this fish any justice, but it was a little longer than 19in and caught on the new sure set x-rap in the green color (sorry, cant think of the name

Another smallmouth on a firetiger skitter pop And now, for a fish that I've never caught before until today Yep, a bowfin..... you might call them a junk fish... but I consider anything that fights as hard as that fish did, a sportfish.

That is the magnum you were catching Walleye with? A FMAG18 - FT ? Part of your musky gear, lol. Was it you who mentioned something about walleyes biting on SSR14s? Which color was it? Your makin me think of buying larger walleye lures, and if it doesnt pan out then I can use them for Pike. Ever caught walleye on a X-Rap Mag30, or is that wishful thinking you think?

Yes, that was the magnum that I was catching really nice walleye on in Canada. I'm not sure if they were biting after it because they are used to going after bigger baitfish such as smelt, but they sure liked it. I caught walleyes on the firetiger color SSR14, and also caught a 7 lb walleye on the gold color x-rap shad (also seen in the picture).
I have yet to try out the X-rap Mag30, because I cast far more than I troll lures, and it goes a little to deep for the areas I fish. I might try out the 15 size though sometime.
I'm sure if walleyes are biting on the magnum18's then they would probably go after te x-rap magnum as well, but I would try the smaller sizes first. Using bigger lures is a good way to sort out the smaller ones if your catching a lot.

I'll start with a small pike I caught this weekend And heres something really strange ....... a rockbass that had some kind of disease, and it looked like it's tail was decomposing, and it had a thin layer of "water mold" all around it. Sad thing is..... it's not the only fish like this that I have caught in our dirty river What do you guys think about this? Have you ever caught a fish ike this before? And now moving on to a channel catfish that I caught on an x-rap today. I know that it was hooked in the back, but as slow as I was fishing, and the way the fish attacked this thing, I'm sure that it came out of its mouth, or just hooked his back before he could get it in his mouth. it was 21 in, not bad for being caught on a Rapala

Catfish hit lures all the time. I caught a 30+ pound buffalo on a lure this last weekend. Now that was a fun fight.

i dont know what buffalo are? to me it always looked like these were on the land, not in the water. at least this is what i see with old John Wayne and Kevin Kostner ...
ok, we have catfish here and i just caught one last sunday on a CD7 GFR. it was a small one, just a little over 33 in.
these european catfish hit lures very agressively in the summer (pre and post spawn is the theory behind it) close to the surface when its hot. it is best when the water is high and muddy after heavy rain.
big metal spoons are usually used for them and sometimes they hit the lure just when it made the splash in the water.
the usual size is around 30 to 50 lbs, the bigger ones can go over 100.

Actually pike would be my fish of choice, but because there are no pike in this park of Ohio, I settle for the next best thing... Smallmouths.

Hehe...We've got enough pikes around here in Germany and he is my first choice to. BTW I had some nice ones form 36 up to the 40's last weeks. Fishing for Zander is a little bit boring to me.

Man.... I loved Germany, I only got to fish in private ponds though, because of the license thing. I would have really loved to fish for pike in the clear lakes of OberBayern. Maybe when I go back I will try for a license.

I visited his house before he came here, but I didn't go fishing with him. I stayed with another German family that took me fishing.

Awesome thread, awesome pictures. Thanks for posting. Nothing's better than hitting the road looking for a river/pond/lakeshore with a box of Rapalas and some fresh 10 lb. test line. Good luck with the Navy or whatever you are getting into. Keep taking fish & lure pictures! lol
