You mean the Jan Eggers issue lures? Im sure there is a ton of them...and Im guessing our friend Jan Eggers himself might be able to help.

Hello to all fans of Jan Eggers Specials.
this series of rapala was officially sold only by SANGER in germany.
i have got the 1997 and 1998 catalogs where these were listed first, and the 2001 where they appeared the last time.
there are 5 different sets packed in blue boxes with 3 each.
the black SSR-8 as well as the black MAG-14 with green stripes are part of these. therefore, you will never find a black SSR-8 in a shad rap box (if you do, its most probably a fake, or maybe Jan got some of these), because all of them were packed in F18, MAG14, or J13 boxes. it seems they used the boxes they had available, cause i have seen them mixed in all kinds.
in the special boxes were packed only 6 different colors.
which would make it a total of 21 different Jan Eggers Special Rapala.
once it was mentioned here that the H13 is not a Jan Eggers color. we should have confirmation of this by Mr. Jan himself, if possible.
i see 5 in the pics, the only one missing is a J13 (which i call HT-like) and that is it.
so if you narrow the approach to these 6 individually packed Jan Eggers Special Selection Rapala, you have got 83% of them. not many people can say this from such a special collection. the only one i know of is Mr. J. (where the J does not stand for Jan or Jarmo).
maybe you should know that the J11s and the J13s (HT-like and green stripes) were re-produced because of demand by fishermen (it is said some dealers took these out of the sets to sell seperately), and these were packed in jointed boxes labeled special, but not with Jans photo on the side of the box. i think the belly of these rapala was somehow different to distinguish from the first edition.
best, wolfgang

Thanks everyone for the input and information. I was looking at Jason's pictures and it looks like there are (2) different J-13's in the special boxes. Like Wolfgang said, one is HT-like and the other is the orange/yellow with green stripes. I'm not really sure if I am missing one or two, but I would be very happy to complete this collection and start focusing on my others. I wasn't sure how many were made in the special boxes. Its nice to know I'm somewhat close to getting all of them ;D. Now for the hard part....finding them .

Hello Guys,
I think I can give the right answer on a number of the questions in the contributions above and even the whole story how these Jan Eggers Selection kits were developed, why only with Saenger and not with Shimano, the official wholesaler in Germany. Why I selected certain color combinations and a lot more. My only problem at the moment is time for although I am officially retired, will be 66 years young soon, I have an awful lot of things to do at the moment. From selling the house of my parents in law till making the new house for my middle daughter in Amsterdam ready. From working on my new book about the biggest pikes of the world till preparing a new pike fishing trip to the Taltson River and Great Slave Lake early June and many more things like reading a lot of contributions on this website. Have some patience but sooner or later I will write a lot of interesting inside information about my work as Rapala consultant and all the staff people that became good friends. Let me tell one thing more: I am very very enthousiastic about this website and although I am not looking too often at all kinds of websites, I look at this one twice a day, so it should be very special, best regards
Jan Eggers
