I know the name of this site, and so far all I've seen are conversation pertaining to lurers, but was wondering if anyone is interested in a little fly fishing talk? There ain't nithing like a largemouth on a noddlie little ol' fly rod.
How's this to start: I've tied my own mice but noticed its difficult to trim the body perfectly so the mouse floats correctly, anyone have a solution? If no solution then a good fly fishing story will do . . .

Hey, I know recently we had a member join up that ties his own flies, 'flytier' I believe his name was, I think there was someone else, not sure though....old age...

hi there, im not a great fly fisherman but i do a little for seatrout in the uk, we use surface lures like your mouse after dark , but i dont tie my own , but i do have luck on a 2 inch bit of wetsuit cut in the shape of a 'y' that produces a wake , and at times they hit hard, fly fishing at night with a good size fish on is such a rush.

Its funny you mentioned a wetsuit because recently I read a story about a guy that fishes for strippers on the Long Island Sound at night and floates in only a wetsuit and flyrod - kinda like an otter if they fly fished instead of eating oysters. When he gets into one, it drags him around as he fights it. Craziest thing I read in a long time. I think it was in Field and Stream.

If fishing for strippers, a wetsuit may be considered " over dressed " When fishing stripers, a wet suit could be ok!!!!!!

Opps! Freudian slip I suppose. Brings up an interesting question, if you were all alone in the Long Island Sound at night, would you rather have a stripper or a striper by your side?

I like the bit about the striper/stripper...heh, heh We fly fish quite a bit here in the foothills of the Rockies, but mostly in the rivers and streams. When it comes to lake fishing, there still isn't much that beats a swimming lure. There's some guys around doing the float tube thing with a leech fly but they seem to spend most of their day flapping about with their fins and not catching much fish. That said, when we do fish the rivers here, they tend to be shallow and fast so when you do hook a fish on a fly, it puts on quite a show! As for the lakes, they'll usually take a 3-5cm original Rap floater in rainbow trout colours as long as you don't drag it around too fast....and you know where they're hiding.
