what do you mean: good perch lake? the pic you posted in ice fishing does not show no perch, besides all the fat walleye and some pike. what do YOU get these on. no SSR i guess.

Actually That should say I wish I had a good perch lake, not I fish a good. Besides, I only have 20 some perch in the lot. I see even in Germany I am known for my fondness of the SSR The best thing I have found is a glo jig tipped with a minnow. If you want to hit the walleye, I have perch jigs that can be fished plain or with a minnow. And for the tipups I use golden roach minnows.

I knew it should have read wish not fish. 20 perch is more than good to me. when do we go fishing together in your not-so-good perch lake? Id just love to do some more ice-fishing. here in GOG it is not allowed in most places, and per-day limit on walleye is 1 (yes ONE!) on most waters i fish. pike the same, no bass at all, and perch so-so. do you even know which fantastic fishing you have over there?

The Perch above were caught on small jigs. Don't even need to add any meat (minnows, maggots etc..) There are some nice ones in the pic. It may be hard to tell but the biggest one was just over 14". 3 guys, 3 hours, 300 Perch. This would be a good day here but nothing exceptional. I can have these kind of days atleast a couple of times a month. If you like monster Perch fishing you can't beat it here. Best thing, NO LIMIT. Catch 1000, keep 1000, or course we never do but in theory you could. Walleye has been slow this year so we have been focusing on Lakers and Perch. This kind of fishing continues into the summer for us. If you're ever in town.........

In the summer, I mean even in August, as long as you have the RIGHT minnows and you find the schools in 40-80FOW its gangbusters until your arms are sore. Summer can be better because of less fisherman. Sometimes can't even get your line to the bottom before another slabber is on. For most people, that kind of perch fishing is unreal. We kind of get spoiled and used to it. I've seen midwestern fisherman toil all day for 3 nice perch. I wouldn't go after Perch if I was facing those kind of odds. Like I said, Spoiled. ;D

Right minnows eh??? Sounds like hitting the walleye here in March. Gotta tip with river minnows if you want a good day of jigging.

hey shane, looked a little closer to your pic, i see a giant golden shinner at the bottom too, looks like 11 or 12 inches i would guess, just right sized for bait for me. cant ever buy the big ones here, maybe 6-7inches, but every time i buy them i have to ask to dip them myself so i can get the biggest ones, no one else wants them. couple years back i found a 10 incher, put it one, took a nice fat 36in pike, when i fileted it, it had just eaten a 12 largemouth before hitting my minnow. big fish eat, you gotta feed them, the bigger the bait, the better your odds for a bigger fish. and i still catch smaller pike 22-24in on those jumbo shinners too. so anyone who tip ups, thats just my .02 Jeff

Thats a white Bass in the Pic. We do pic up huge american shiners with fishing in the summer. Sometimes up to 13 inches. Big and Golden. We've tried keeping them in Minnow storage tanks but they only keep for 3 days. If we hang one of them under a bobber we usually catch them the day of use. Awesome big fish bait.
