its not so much of who i like, but who i dont. cant stand 48, any toyota (expesially the 55), 29 its a little pipsqueak. bush and shrub could both leave and no one would miss them. newman whines and whines, its almost like rusty was still racing. right now i guess i kinda root for Jr, and also the 17 even though hes a ford, hes from wi. im not a huge gordan fan, but i dont mind seeing him do well. would love to see jeff burton win the champoinship, great underdog. still faithful to #3, at least until Rapala sponsors a car, then i will have a favorite.

I'm really not going to comment on Fishooked statement. I guess when you have small kids around the house, that everyday must seem like a 200mph race around a 1/4 mile track Plus, he's from "jersey" So there's no telling what's in the water he's been drinking. Now then, and i won't go into all the little details that pull me into nascar racing, whether's it's the trucks, busch series or the Cup. But it's so much more enjoyable watching nascar, than the other 3 top sports. Basketball, football & baseball. While I enjoyed all those, it seems that they have lost there luster. Too much BS in those other sports. Just give me a Good, Safe Race anyday over a really boring Football game. And before ya call me out. Yup I live in the land of the hopeless lions. Baseball seemed to be on the upswing, until the BEST team in BaseBall (tigers) gave up last year. Plus, As A "Redneck" it does my heart good to see the Redneck crowd really support what will be at this years end, the MOST Popular and Money making Sport in our country. It will surpass Football this year. AND Still growing!!!! And if that wasn't enough, Where else can you see a 72 year old still compete. As for my favorite, I tend to pull for the #20 & #8 & #29 But also have a place for the #21, M waltrip, M martin I've got no reason to pull for the 'drunk and punk Busch brothers. They just 'rub' me the wrong way. You guys should have never brought up Nascar or as us "Old Timers" like to call it the "Winston" Steve "Rapala-Guru"

When I hear the phrase The Winston, I think of that old million dollar race. The sport has came a long way, but I think I liked it better when it wasn't so PC. They use to be able to settle things on the track. I guess with popularity comes the corporate BS too.
At least you don't see too many millionaires in Nascar crying about being underpaid and wanting arbitration.

no kiddin, if a racer wants more money, he cant hold out or skip training camp, he has to race for it, the better you do, the more money there is for you, could you imagine if the nfl did that, most of those jerks would leave the sport if they acually had to perform at the to of there game every play in order to get paid the way they do. no they lollie-gag on plays that go away from them, on and off the field, just waste everyones time. if you lollie-gag in racing, you end up doing what jimmy johnson did this weekend. yippie. What pisses me off is when they say Tony has won two Nextel cup championships.....no he hasn't, one was a Winston cup championship. Sends me on a tangent!!!

Yeah, I know Im the minority here, but Nascar will never be big here like it is in the midwest or the south, or the heartland of America.
Im not saying if I saw a race in person I wouldnt be entertained. But lets face it, watching it on TV, no matter how many cameras they put on certain parts of the car, just doesnt cut it for me.
I'll withold the rest of my comments out of respect for my fellow board members here.

it ok ted, you can go ahead and say it, im a hick, and i dont even care. hell i have Git-R-Done on the bug shield of my pick up. if i have to choose between watching a race, a brewers game, a football game, or fishing shows, i still usually watch the fishing show. beyond that, its kinda a toss up, i like racing and baseball and football, but if i miss it, i miss it, no big deal. however, i will go out of my way not to watch an NBA game, HS and college BB is ok, but the pros are just a bunch of ass bags. did i say that...oh yeah, i did. Jeff
No, Im not calling anyone a hick who is into it. Hell even im suprised at all the # decals I see even in my neck of the woods. My sports life pretty much centers around the NFL and NHL, all the other majors are all a bunch of overpaid primadonnas, if you ask me.
