Anyone else here have cabin fever? I just started getting it after ice fishing pretty much turned into slush fishing, and now have to wait untill spring for fishing. To help cope with this i have been reading up on some In-fishermans, "playing" with my lures, and trying to plan some fishing trips. How is everyone else coping with this?

No play with your lures too much, I hear you could go blind.

Damn, I thought it was you'd go bald (Steve wanders off to find another excuse for a hair lose)
However, I take stock of my 'fish-able' tackle box, take notes as to what I need to re-stock, I hate to say replace, cause I've got some lures that look like hell, scratched, scared and I hate to replace them, because there is 'something' about the lure that gets the fishes attention.
Do a little reel work, strip line, replace, and a little grease, maybe have my REEL Guy take any apart that might be in need of work.
First Fishing Trip of the year (spring) has already been planned. I go on the same trip each year, and have been doing so since High School. YA know, BAck when T-Rex roamed the earth.
I go to the U.P. for some walleye & perch & toothy critter fishing. The last few years however, I seemed to have stumbled upon a great smallie & largemouth population. It seems the locals up there just don't target the bass, because of the better tasting walleye's & perch.
I've had a few 50+ bass days up there. One day we brought in (2 guys in the boat, Dad & myself) a stringer of bass that weighed a little over 33 lbs. Anchored with a 5+ lb Smallie. All were caught on a Rapala Skitter-Pop #7 shad.
It was fun watching the locals as we wandered around a bay, just smashing the Bass.

NO, you will not get blind and not get bald, you get crazy looking for too long at your lures. even faster so looking too long on your list of the ones you still need. I keep both of them locked away most of the day.
talking about cabin fever - what is this - all you guys still living in cabins over there? Jasons seems to be one of the more luxurious kind then ... LOL
last time i was fishing was on oct. 22, 2006. maybe this is why i started all this RAPALA collecting. a friend many years ago told me my fishing is just a substitue for sex. maybe the rapala thing is just a substitue for fishing. although i have to say i prefer the real thing.
on the other hand, shooting a nice HUSKY at less than 3$ is almost as good as the real thing ...
have to go fishing soon - the season for brown trout opened here today and the guy from The Shop put almost 1000 pound of brownies and brookies in his stretch.
maybe this helps to reduce the rapala bill a little. and probably also should go out with my wife soon. she does not like at all the many many packs recently arriving for me every day.

It might, but you'll be doing those often as those boxes keep arriving. Then you'll never go

I can't wait for April. That is when the Walleye and White Bass runs are at their peak here. The ice here is pretty sloppy right now and with 50 degree weather coming, it won't be here much longer.
How long after April is the best perch fishing in...say..... a place like......vermont??? I think I feel the need to burn some of my sick time. Just don't make it in July as I am spending my birthday and 10 other days up at the cabin with some fishing drinking relatives.

They usually start setting up post spawn in deep water in late April early may. But it continues usually until October so no rush.
