What a day. I know I drove to bass lake, but once I was on the water, I could have sworn I was at brookville. I whacked em pretty hard today. Boated 35 walleyes, lost 4 more at the boat, and missed about 6 more hits that I am quite sure were eyes. It was like I never left brookville. (the brookville comment is an inside joke)
Then I seen a crestliner cruising by, and I knew I was at brookville. Then I noticed there wasn't any wind, and I hadn't caught any crappies, so I figured I couldn't be at brookville LOL.
Sorry for the crappy collage job here. Didn't want to post 35 pics and I am just too tired to layer all these pics together correctly lol.
I got there late, 5:30. Air temp when I got up at 3 this morning was 47 degrees. Water temp at 5:30 was 70 degrees.
I pulled all these walleye out of an area the size of a basketbal court. These fish were packed into the shallows 6-9 feet adjacent to deeper water. The sky was perfect for walleye fishing early on.
The fish were not huge as the biggest one didn't top 16 inches, but I did walk away with 6 keepers.
I seen an older guy that I saw in the morning and he was complaining about being out there and getting 5-6 but no keepers, and since I have a nice bunch in the freezer already, I gave him my eyes.
I didn't go home empty handed though. I caught 4 silvers, with 3 of them going to be hitting the deep fryer tomorrow.
I picked up a nice bluegill as well.
I even caught an okay smallmouth.
When this one hit I was praying it was an eye. I hooked it on my 9 foot steelhead rod. I was running one pole in my hand for jigging and dragging two other harnesses. This guy tagged a harness.
This one also hit a harness. It was rusted in half, so it had a wobble like a walleye headshake, and it was also full of sand so it had some weight. This is my second trophy like this out of bass lake. The other was a falstaff.
Here is the entire mess that I came home with.
The white bass were hitting so hard, I had to retire my one jig.
All in all, it was a very nice day. I eventually had to go down to just the one rod as every time a harness would go off, I would set the jigger in the holder and sure enough, it would get an eye on it before I could get the harness back out. That happened three times and twice I had a triple going off.
For a Saturday after Memorial day the traffic was light. The lake never got any chop to mention until I was coming off at 3. Lots of anglers out, and only a few skiers.
Water was pretty stained too.
