In the morning I hit a golf course that has some nice ponds. When I first got there I started by throwing a frog on top of lilies. I had 1 explosion which resulted in a 12" largemouth. I wasn't getting anymore swirls or followers so I switched over to a Silver J9. All I saw were tons of bluegills and pumpkinseeds following it. I moved on to a different pond and wasn't having any luck with the J9. I decided to check and see what a Shiner SSR7 could do for me. That was the trick. As the morning went on and I moved along to different ponds I caught a total of 6 bass ranging from 9" to 14" and 3 bluegills. 5 out of those 6 bass and all 3 bluegills came on the Shiner SSR7. The retrieve I was doing that did the trick was letting it sit on the surface when I cast and then give it a nice jerk to make a splashing sound. Once it comes back up to the surface let it sit for a few seconds and then jerk again.
