Id rather spend more time on the boat than in the car... There is one that I haven't fished in a long time, apparently one of the deepest lakes in NJ, over 120' feet deep in some places. Maybe I should go and troll some TDDs...

hey ted, i have 2 farm ponds that are less then a mile from my house. the one is about 2 acres and was plum silly with 12-15 inch perch a couple years ago guy. but we had a bad winter and it winter killed out real bad like, there are a few small ones in there, but not the every cast a fish like it was in 07. the other pond is about an acre and is were i have been building up a population of golden shinners after it also had a winter/fall killout. shinners are doing good, drop a trap and 20 minutes later you have 30-50 minnows 3-6 inches. it will be a gold mine if i time my harvest right and play the DNR's games to sell them before ice season here. there was also a 20incher largemouth in there last summer, but i havnt seen him yet this year, he might not have made it. he was the lone surviver after the killoff. slowly restocking the perch pond with a few small bluegills and trying to find time to get out to catch some perch to start stocking it back up, now that the water level is coming back and winter kill shouldnt be sure a problem. bacon

I have fished mackeral several times and have never seen anyone here in NB use anything but weighted jigs or mackeral flies. I will certainly try a rapala next time. I had bought them for fishing stripers.
