I figured it was time to get out the frogs and start getting into some top water action (probably my favorite type of bass fishing). The weeds at my local pond were just right. Headed out this afternoon at about 6:00 PM. I was getting some good explosions right from the start but couldn't hook any. I was getting some smaller hits right along this weed line so I continued going back to the spot making the same cast. Eventually I hooked the fish. It wasn't a big hit so I knew I didn't have a great hookset on her. She jumped once and stayed on so I figured I might be OK. Then she jumps a second time and that's when I realized she was a beast. Didn't realized she spit the frog until after she landed. I was sick. Didn't even want to fish anymore I was so sick. I'm curious to hear what everything think she weighs. I've slowed the video down so you can clearly see the jump. My guess is definitely over 5 but hard to tell just how big. I think it's possible she could be 6 or 7 based on how big her girth is.

I would say a 6lber. Not enough girth IMHO to go 7. Looks like something around 21-22 inches. A real beauty. Need bigger gear to keep that fish up on the surface through that crap. Thanks for the video. How do you run the handheld while fishing?

That is easily a 6 pounder. You lost that fish and all you said was" Shit"!!! I personally would have said worse. The other day I lost 3 bass that all of them together would still have been smaller and I said alot worse I'd still be cussing heck you could have heard me in Germany. Damn nice fish even though you didn't land him.

I captured part of the image clip and turned it into a gif, in case you feel like torturing yourself, over and over again - Don't feel bad, it happens to everyone - at least you got it in film. Whenever I fish with my one friend, I almost always lose a fish like that almost everytime I go fishing with him, he's a trophy killer...

Sorry to see you lose that bass. You're not alone. About a week ago I lost a bucketmouth bass on the jump.
