(Jan sent me this email last night) He also weighed in on the Monster Pike thread as well Hi Ted, Tuesday I returned from a nice fishing trip to the Taltson river in NWT in Canada and with 7 friends, of which 6 had been there before, I had a very good time at the Aurora Nights Lodge of Eric Beck and his wife Kim.
Each fishermen not only caught hundreds of good pikes and walleyes but also a lot of big ones and each fisherman had pikes over 110 cm, about 44 inches. My 3 biggest pikes were 115, 117 and 123 cm, the last one being over 30 lb. My best lure was a blue silver Blue Fox spoon of 45 grams but I also caught them on jerkbaits, Super Shad Rap and Mepps spinners.
We had wonderful weather, almost no musquitos and the camp was the best one I ever had there. Readers interested in this best place for really big northern pike I know, can have a look at www.auroranights.ca
I saw a story and pics about Monsterpike by Muskiehunter and smiled for this pike was caught in Holland, I have the whole story and all pictures and it was caught years ago and even on the cover of Esox Angler winter 06/07 issue and the exact weight was 19,4 kilos.
The pictures of the pike with the small pike between its jaws was made in Norway and had nothing to do with the other pike. I often see so much nonsense about big pikes like this one and especially Americans believe if it was a new worldrecord from Rainy Lake or other lodges that need promotion...

Congratulations Jan for these tremendous pikes from Taltson to you and your friends. Seems so you've found the paradise for Northerns. I think its time to fish my Professor's in 00 more often to beat this ... ;D

Nice fish Jan I see nothing has changed for you in the last 25 years of catching HUGE pike.I remember seeing pictures of you when I was a youngster with those monster pike. I only wish I have that many years(no disrespect intended) of fishing success!!!!

Very nice pike you caught there in Canada. I think I'll start saving some money to make such a trip with my brother in the near future...
