I went out today with a new buddy for his first trip to a local lake. We caught and released 40 pickeral and 7 or 8 yellow perch. Every fish was caught on a J9 or J11, silver and black. What a blast ,they were eating the raps!!! This is my 2nd attempt at this. I had a cpl of other pics but am not sure on posting them. I am not very PC literate

When you measure them are you allowed to count the extra inch of a J11 sticking out of its mouth. This one unfortunatly didnt make it on release !!

Damn, nice job!!! I don't care what people say, some people call them trash fish or whatever, but when the bass aren't biting I seek out those pickerel...because they do put up a fight...and have an attitude to boot! well done! ;D

Pickeral I wouldn't really consider a trash fish at all, they are a hell of a lot a fun to catch. IMO they are the same as a Northern just a lot smaller. And 40 of them in one day, that is one hell of day on the lake ;D

I don't care if Im pulling in yellow perch & sunnies all day, as long as it pulls on the line & Im landing them.

As long as your having fun doing it who cares what kind of fish it is.If it happens to be table worthy fish thats a bonus.

I too really enjoy fishing for pickerel. They put up a good fight and enjoy seeing them be acrobatic. I hate reading guys on other sites call them slime darts and other names while complaining about them. Nice job Congrats

Ya, It pisses me off when guys call them "snot rockets" etc. I dont eat them in the summer when the water is above 60 degrees, but always eat a few I catch ice-fishing. Some of these ones were the most acrobatic pickeral I have ever seen, 2 or 3 jumps!!! Lots of fun.

Another one on a J9 by my buddy That's a great shot, btw... And must have been a good day, was it cloudy like that all day? Always tough to find the right cloudy day of fishing without getting rained on...

Yes, It was foggy enroute to the lake, and stayed hazy and humid until about 3 pm when the sun broke out. I still managed to get sunburned even though I put on my shirt as soon as the sun appeared.
