Well, I just got back from our trip to Saginaw Bay here in Michigan. We caught a lot of fish but not the size we are use to at the bay. We can usually pull over 20lbs with 5 fish. The best we found this year was only 14lbs for 5. Don't get me wrong, we caught a lot of the good eating ones, but its kind of nice to get some "picture worthy" fish to catch and release. We went over 70 miles on Friday trying to find some larger fish, with no luck Here is a picture of our fish from Friday Here are a couple from Saturday. I wish we could have gotten some more of the really nice perch that we caught. Overall, it was a successful fishing trip and I am looking foward to next year.

Hey Walleye,
That doesn't even sort of suck...nice haul! Who cares if there's no 'trophies'. After all, they're at their best with a side dish of something and chased with a beer...

It was a great day out there. We were in a tournament on Saturday, thats why the fish needed to be larger. We caught the perfect eater size Wally's.

So were you on the spinners/crawlers or are the hot'n tot going? That is a nice batch of fish. The spinner/crawler bite is hot right now. We caught them on both bouncers and inline weights. Best color was purple/chartreuse beads with a confusion color blade. This is always a good color on Saginaw Bay. Some people were getting them on spoons also.

Wow so much walleyes! Nice catch. we can be proud here to catch one or two. Thomas Thanks Thomas. We are fortunate to have a few great walleye fisheries here in Michigan. Lake Erie, Saginaw Bay, Little/Big Bays De Noc. Sometimes we tend to take things for granted and forget how good we have it. Thanks to everyone for the nice words. You guys make it worth posting pictures and stories on sites like this.

At least until winter sets in, anyway. I guess that's God's way of making up for the shitty winters, good fishing. I gotta tell ya, as an outside and as someone who has never gone walleye fishing, it seems a little complicated. All those rigs, spinners, jigs, jigheads, weights, etc...I'd be overwhelmed. The only time I ever got any 'eyes was by accident. And yes I even have a picture of it...somwhere....

Come on Ted, what about ice fishing Walleye fishing is actually pretty simple on the bodies of water I listed above. If you fish a couple of times with someone who knows what they are doing, you catch on pretty quick. On one of the smaller bodies of water that I fish, all you need is a splitshot, hook, and a minnow and you are in business. I can post some pictures of my favorite rigs and lures this weekend if anyone is interested.

Nice batch of fish Matt The Walleye's are slamming spinners and crawlers up here as well. The Cabela's MWC just wrapped up a stop here in Menominnee this weekend and the first place team had a weight of 51.08 and they caught them on gold blades with green beads. From what the guys said almost all fish were caught on spinners and crawlers with different color combos. I'll post some pictures once I get my computer fixed.
