Hey Ted I do have this book and there is allot of useful information in this one. One thing you might be particularly interested I is there is a 8 page "Colour availability chart" that shows all the produced lures, what regions of the world they were sold in, and the available sizes and colors for each lure. This book does not cover any "Special" model or colors.
I could scan these and send them to you if you like...
This book also does a good job of explaining when models and colors were introduced, but does not ever mention when models and colors were discontinued.... And the one I have only covers up to the 2004 model year.
Overall, I would say that a couple of the older posters here could probably write a better book for collectors. But I have found this book very handy as a reference for all sorts of Rapala info.
I would be very interested if anyone knows a better source of information on when each model and colors was discontinued? I can’t find good data on this anywhere.

Thanks for the update. I will definately be picking up one of those books. As far as the best source for when lures were discontinued, it would have to be a big time collector ala (Guru, fishooked, bacon, myself?) or the yearly Rapala catalogues that show the lures for sale. In fact they will play a major role in completing the Rapala Lure Bible.

Yeah thanks for the info Mike. I was hoping it would at least have some reference section on it. Yeah for some reason Rapala doesnt really 'tell' people that patterns have been discontinued...all of a sudden you just stop seeing that color on color plates and such. Same goes for certain lures too (i.e. Mini Fat Rap). And Shane I'd hardly call myself a big-time collector, lol. But thanks for saying as much.
