I stumbled across this interesting device for [painlessly?] removing hooks from oneself: www.docwatsonsremedies.com/I'm sure it would be easy to make one by yourself - watch the 7 minute video for a better idea of how it works. Nigel P.S. Hope none of you ever need it

Whoa... That looks... erm... useful! For an awesome blind guitar player and singer Doc Watson sure knows his remedies! Just kidding... I'd buy one of those things if they really worked as advertised.

...again, although barbless hooks are a bit of a nuisance, we've gotten used to them here, and man are they easy to get out! This is quite a gadget! I must say I remain skeptical, but interested... Then again, I can honestly say in the last five years, I have yet to hook myself...after all, isn't the hook supposed to be in the fish?!?

Obviously, you are not fishing hard enough. It is incomprehensible to come back from a day of fishing without at least a couple of minor puncture wounds!!!!

I once saw Roland Martin in person at a boat show in Ohio, and the whole time he talked about how he made all of his money. I've also heard that he turned down a boys dream to go fishing with him through Make-A-Wish, because it didn't fit his schedule. What a douche

It should be real easy to make something similar. Just even a piece of cord; pass one end around the curve of the embedded hook twice (for a good grip on the hook), wrap both ends around your index finger, other index finger gently pressing down on the eye of the hook (onto the fish-hooked hand/body-part) so as to 'lift' the curve of the hook upwards somewhat and a quick sharp pull should do the trick as good as a $29 fancy rig.

Hey Steve, I remember that Rocket rod..man that's funny... Oh and Casey, I do come home from fishing with puncture marks...from the big pointy teeth of the FISH..hahaha!!! The last time I hauled a big trout out of Phyllis Lake here I had to club it with a piece of firewood so I could get my Rap out of it's mouth without losing a finger! ...that fish was good eatin' too.

Last year our Wal-Mart probably had about 20 rocket fishing rods displayed all around the fishing aisle, and now there's not a single one. I really hope that they didn't sell all of those pieces of junk.
