I've decided this month (and moving forward) to change the rules a bit; the original rules stated that you had to have at least one post on the site to be eligible.
Well, in light of the fact we've had many members simply make one post and then disappear, it's not really fair to those who contribute on a regular basis. We have close to 400 members now, however we do have a considerable percentage that have registered and never posted at all.
That's fine if you're not really the posting type, you are more than welcome to read the boards and not post, if that's your style.

My main goal for doing this is to try to encourage more interaction on the site, and to build more of a community. Ten posts really isn't a lot to ask, after all, posting is free!
In return, you make yourself eligible to receive from 3-5 FREE RAPALA LURES - now who else is giving away free stuff in this cruddy economy?
Thanks again for your time, and sorry for all the emails as of late. (You can always op-out of these on your profile settings)
Thanks!

Profile > Account Preferences
There's an Opt-In/Opt-Out section
What jbone means its more fair to those than spend more time here, and post. And to be honest, I tend to agree with him.
It's nice having 380+ members, but when over 200 of them dont post or have less than 5 posts to their credit....than yeah, its more fair to those whom are regulars.
Don't take it the wrong way; Im not trying to drive people anyway, Im trying to encourage more postings by doing this.

I think it will be fair to those who really use the forum. I mean, it's just 10 posts. How hard can it be? eheheh

Thanks fishooked, I didn't click on modify profile the first time.
Most of my Rapalas are used as they were intended. Yea, I take them out of the boxes and get them wet. Most of the time I throw the boxes away. I joined this forum to find out about some early Rapalas I had in my lure collection. There is some good information here, but alot of it seem's like kids collecting Hot Wheels. Collect whatever your heart desires! I'm old skool, Rapalas are made of balsa, and when used properly........catch the hell out of fish. Have fun! John

Not sure on this, i was going to suggest that you have it as one post in the previous month, but i guess that the 10 post thing works too, hope it generate worth posts, not just 10 consecutive: Yeps. I do collect rapalas, all rapalas, and fish them too, so i guess i do collect whatever my heart desires. i not that old school, guess that how i spelled it right. bacon
ps, what the hell happened to my 'read last 25 messages' button

John I think everybody here uses Rapala's for fishing and has used them for along time.Even the plastic Rapala's catch fish. The information here about different colors and models makes collecting Hot Wheels a hell of a lot of fun. ;D

John John, I certainly can't disagree with you to a certain extent, after all I think the age old expression "fishing lures catch fishermen, not fish" does apply here, as well as any other lure board. What can we say, we just get excited when we see something we handn't seen before. ;D But I think even though we certainly do have our share of collectors here, we are all fishermen first; Im pretty sure no one her can argue that point.

Other sites that I visit regularly require a given number of posts to access features or upload avatars etc. I think it is a good idea. My .02 Casey

Since I currently have 9 posts, I think requiring 10 posts for the contest is a fine idea!
(C'mon, you know someone had to do it... ;-)
Great job, Fishooked, on all the site improvements, new members, and new activities!
