A raffle is a competition in which people buy numbered tickets. Originating in southern Italy, it is a popular game in numerous countries and is often held to raise funds for a specific event, charity, or occasion. The raffle involves many people buying tickets for a chance to win a certain prize or prizes. At a set date, the winners are drawn from a bucket containing a copy of every number or a tombola (from Italian: tombola ['to:mbola]). The ticket is then checked against a collection of prizes with numbers attached to them. A raffle also often involves several different possible prizes that can be won, and a ticket will simply be drawn from the group at random for each of the prizes one by one. Running a raffle is illegal in most of the United States, although many states make an exception for raffles in which the proceeds go to charity. In the United States laws regarding raffles are decided upon by state governments just as other types of games of chance. In the United States raffle laws vary considerably by state. Some states define charitable raffles as equal to lotteries and therefore have deemed them illegal. Other states allow raffles for charities but do not have lotteries. Raffle License or Application The application for the raffle license may be required by the state, county or city government. Sometimes organizations must file with the state and local government so it is always wise to contact all government agencies. Most applications require a fee. Raffle Requirements Each state also has different requirements about the organizations that are allowed to hold a raffle and the manner in which it is conducted. For example according to the laws of Colorado, the organization must have been in existence for five years before an application for a bingo/raffle license can be made. Some state raffle laws limit the number of raffles that a tax-exempt organization can hold. No, Im not, really...I wish there was a way I could somehow reward all of those who purchased a ticket...Im working on trying to get as many 'partners' as I can (the ebay sellers, who have been helping me out with some stuff in exchange for advertising them), so that has helped somewhat....the best I could do is hand out 'RapCash' for those who did. There's still 30 hours left, so we'll see what happens...I'm not going to twist anyone's arms, or look down upon any who didn't. There's still 30 hours left |

Ok, this is the process I used for drawing the names... I created several spreadsheets, and for each ticket purchased, your name was placed in a cell. Below is an example:  Once the raffle closed, I created the final spreadsheets, then cut out each cell, so one cell per name=1 ticket. My hands started cramping up cutting them out -  Then for good luck, I put them all in this Rapala mug  Then of course, to balance out anyone that had too much luck, I balanced it out by throwing some bad luck in there by putting them in this Jets helmet   |
