Hi Ted,
since i havent found one where i would have a chance to win something, maybe i suggest some myself here
(and i dont want to imply i would have any chance for winning one of these).
have you ever been thinking of:
best of the month post
(helpful advice, nice fish story, awfully getting skunked story, etc.)
best of the month picture
(even lake pictures would count here; but please dont think you could win this one easily …)
best of the month link
(a curious ebay item, a nice shop, a video ...)
members can suggest candidates and will vote for best-of.
at the end of one year, we could have a big contest for best-of-year post/picture/link.
all winners of the previous 12 months are eligible for best of year.
maybe this one could increase traffic a little ...
and of course the winner gets some nice rapala!
what do you think?

Wolfgang, These are all excellent ideas - I had thought of doing some sort of photo contest of sorts - I would just be spreading myself a little thin if I tried to implement and keep track of all this stuff - the posts I mean. I had tried to do something like that with the RapCash stuff, in the end I could no longer keep up with all of the posts - I wish there were an easier way to reward folks that post pics, topics, links, stories etc. Maybe its about time some of our moderators here had something to do  - that is if they'd be willing to keep track of it all. I would need to designate a certain moderator for each certain topic in order to keep track of them all.. And don't sell me short, I take awesome lake pictures!  But as the admin I know I am pretty much ineligible for all of these contests anyway.... |

Hey Ted, I'am ready lets start some contests ;D I can't give you too much to do, you have too many lures to paint! You can say that again  My little one was helping me yesterday. I gave him a few older lures to mess around with and he actually did a pretty good job with the airbrush but I think his final product would scare the fish or make them think WTF is that. BTW Ted its a good thing you are ineligible for these because your lake pics are sweet.  Speaking of which you better get some nice Fall Color lake pics for us to stare at |

i never understood how you were going to count all posts, pics, and links posted and award rapcash for that ...
thats the nice thing with my idea - you dont have to keep track of anything - members will suggest to you what they think could be worth entering this competition.
and why should you not be allowed to compete ... ??
members will vote for the winner.
so you can participate just as anyone - thats the difference to the previous stuff where it was your task to sort out some of the entries - this time the members will work for you - which doesnt mean there will not be a lot of work left for you to do, if we ever start one like this ...

But you're right, and my problem is that I do try to do to much; what makes it harder is that I can never seem satisfied with how the site is and I keep trying to make improvements. I think I may need to make a seperate board category which will just be contests promos etc - and I will keep the other thread for me for site announcements, changes, enhancements, outages, etc etc. Also for each board category I need to designate moderators for each (see where some say 'Fishooked' and some say 'none' ?) - there are certain ones I still need to 'keep' but if anyone wants to volunteer, feel free. Also if anyone wants to be a moderator, send me a PM and let me know. |
