i think it would be a help to list all the model types rapala produced, as there seems to be many models that are little known, maybe using photo's, what do you think ?  such as tail dancer deep tail dancer shallow tail dancer magnum floating magnum countdown magnum shallow original floater countdown countdown fast sinking countdown salt water etc |

I think that would be very helpful for someone like me who doesnt know what most of the abbreviations stand for like STD etc. I am not really a collector, I use all my rapalas for fishing.

pearl squid ? whats that any one got a picture , any models not on the list please add to, as im collecting one of every model made with mostly rare or specials, i dont have a peal squid, i got bored waiting for new countdowns to turn up, seeing so many lures that i no little about, i thought ,sod it i will get one of each and make a display case, sad or what. |

I think he is referring to the hard bodied squid with colors like SB, GFR, and has those crazy squid hooks. They were often packaged in down deep boxes.

when rapala launched the velvet squid, the pearl squid was out about the same time. packaged in the same packages, in similar colors and sizes. i would say i will dig some out and picture them, but i never seem to get to doing it. so dont hold your breathe, guy. anyway the pearl and velet squid were unique in rapalas line up for a couple of reasons, one, they had feathers sticking out either side of them, kinda like fins, and two, they glowed. and on top of that, there body was unlike any other rapala lure before and since.
these are on top of the 'countdown' style that just sport those freaky hooks, but without the feathers. i have seen them in both CD and H13 boxes. guess it was a free for all with them, just put them in any box they fit in.

i see them pop up now on then on international ebay sites, AU and parts of europe. i had a full set, then sold some here and there, oops, its to bad i didnt do more collecting and less 'straight profiteering' when i started this whole mess.
