How many of you have had times when you catch a small fish that you then decide to use as bait to catch a bigger one and you were successful? One time while I was on a buddy's canoe I caught a small 4" bluegill in a pond where there's some nice largemouths. I decided to put it on a hook and let it swim around. Got a nice hit and set the hook. Ended up catching a 2 pound largemouth with a 4" bluegill that I had already caught.
Last year while I was reading somebody's ice fishing report, he said he jigged up a small yellow perch and decided to rig it with the tip up. Later he caught a smallmouth close to 3 pounds with the small live yellow perch.

Many years ago I had a two week holiday on Alderney (English Channel Islands) and took along a lightweight rod. I was fishing off the rocks with a small spinner and landed a small 3" pollack. Changed the spinner for a float rig and stuck the hook through the pollacks upper mouth - cast it out and about 5 minutes later something hit it and took off. It very quickly went around a small rocky point and the line went - never new what it was but the next day went and bought a heavier rod and reel.
Alderney is a real nice place for a fishing holiday - nice and quiet with loads of different places to go fishing. It's a small island about 4 miles by 2 at its widest.
