Ok, so we all have a ton of them - but which ones always let you down? Which model or color has let you down or skunked you the most? Which lure is it that you know should be a fish catcher, but flat out has failed you, time and time again? There are loads, but so far the color that has let me down is Hot Tiger I bust them out everytime and still no luck. The lure that has been pissing me off as of late is the X-Rap -it looks like it has all the characteristics of a kickass lure - but I guess the fish don't care for it much where I go.

The minnow rap will not bring any walleys to the boat for me. Looks great, just cant get them to bite it. Ok have gotten a few small trout on them. Will not buy all sizes and colors next time ! Ok maybe........ lol

i havent given the x rap a real test yet, so i dont know, but my biggest bust is the long cast minnow
following the Taildancer, in similar boxes and also marked limited edition, i bought sets of all of them, but the taildancer boom was over and over-anxious buyers were hip to the whole Limited Edition jive, and i was stuck with them. so i put a bunch in the tackle box and painted a bunch more, i have yet to catch a fish on a single on of them. the market serged back up on them and i unloaded most of what i had left, im still left with a few NIB pieces for my collection, but im not worried, i have bumped into them from time to time still on the shelf, so im guessing that im not the only one who got burned. yes they cast longer then an original, but the original still wins its spot in my tackle box.

Erm... The Countdown. Never caught fish on it, lost one in the snags and I just don't see how I can get it to work the way I want. The only thing good that they have is, compared to the Original (the "good one") they cast further.

Dt's have really dissapointed me! I absolutely love them, caught ton's of fish with them too! But the dang bill's like to break when you dont want them too. I've lost several nice fish right at the boat when the bill's break. I've even had them break mid air on a cast! Dont know what the deal with them is. Always break right at the body too, I think some chemical they use must react with the plastic and cause it to get weak. X-rap's are another no fish bait for me too!

Now that I think of it I have never caught a fish on the Twitchin Rap .This IMO is one lure Rapala can discontinue.

ahh, now that you mention it, me either. not even a follow, but switch from a Twitchin to SSR, and tada! fish on, and all i really added was a lip. lol. the gliddin rap has some real potental i think. maybe a tad big, not all of us fish lake of the woods everyday for huge pike, a size 10 would be great too. bacon

The Risto rap was by far the worst series they ever put out.

The Risto rap was by far the worst series they ever put out. Which is exactly why I dont understand people paying insane money for RR-9s on fee-bay lately, I don't get it...

i think the italian "long cast" (just a special lipless cd with a different name and sheet in the box) was one of the worst ever. and i don't like husky jerk very much, too. it's a nice bait, but i don't have much feeling with that.
btw, i think shad rap is a good one, but the old fat rap was much better.

the risto rap had a role, a nice large profile crank, that doesnt rattle, and can reach that 15+ ft mark. however, by talking to rapala reps, the reason they droped them was that the size 8 and 9 ran flat, meaning that when cranked to depth, they didnt run nose down, making them much more likely to snag the bottom and hang up. i can honestly say i have never fished with a risto rap larger then a 5. i personally love the RR4.
my take on the overpaying for the risto is a result of the dump by rapala. the market was flooded with them at $2 or less, you couldnt swing a dead cat and not hit a risto rap. eventually they were fished, i always considered them trolling fodder. if you lost a $2 risto rap, you didnt feel that bad about it. but im guessing that some have found that like most rapalas, they catch fish, and now that the pool of ristos is much, much smaller, supply and demand has set in. bacon

well, this would be a long list. however, most of the ones i never caught a fish with is because i never tried them ... the only ones i used regularly was floating original, rnr, H13, and drfr. since i started this crazy thing called collecting, i have tried out some others such as: SSR, CD, HJ, X-rap, risto ...
i have never used: FR, SFR, sliver, all the newer plastic lures, and many more ...
i never caught a fish on a super shad, HJ, X-rap, magnum, and of course all the others i never used, but then we dont have bass here, or much other fish you could catch with the bigger rapala, or i am just not trying hard enough.
i have to agree with Mark, gold is not a good color here.
it seems i should go to denmark and try a JSR ...
best, w.
