Sunday I hit one of my favorite parks. First spot I hit at one of the ponds is a bay where I've had lots of luck. First few casts with the SSR7 SH wasn't working so I decided to switch over to a J7 S. That's when everything started. The retrieve I stuck with was where I jerk it on the surface and then do that again after it comes back up. 3rd cast out there and I got a few swirls. Then catch a 12" brown. Then within the next 15 minutes I catch a 15" and 13" pickerel. The 15"er was chubby and had what looked like the very front of a brown trout's mouth still in its mouth. A pickerel's favorite fish is trout. Had no more luck after those 15 minutes so I kept on moving on along that pond. Had no luck so I went over to another pond. One area I was in I had a small chain pickerel come shooting out from underneath and hit the lure but didn't set the hook. Had a few swirls on the surface on 1 retrieve but nothing after that. Next stop at another pond produced me 2 small bass no bigger than 8". Last stop I made didn't catch me anything.
Was very happy with the way the pickerel were acting and also happy that I was able to find what the fish were looking for.
