I'm always interested in knowing what the depths are for certain Rapalas. I know their site has the depths but what I'm saying is what is the depth range of a MR-9? For instance, I know the JSR goes from 4 to 15 feet but the JSR-4 ranges from 4 to 6 feet. So is there anywhere I can find the depth range on not just every type of lure but every size every type of lure comes in?

a few years back they had a chart book for all there lures for casted and trolled depth, i have a bunch of them if you want, but like i said, it was a few years ago, so the MR would not be in there i would guess. there might be more info like that on the rapala website, dont know if thats still there or not. bacon

I've never seen any info on the Rapala web site other than saying the depth range of just the lure name instead of every different size.

You mean this? www.rapala.com/products/topbttm.cfmI don't think they would list each lure size for each model, it's just too much work involved if you ask me. Plus there are always variables such as line diameter and so forth. Obviously a JSR-4 would fall into the 'top range' of 4-15 feet, where as a JSR-7 would fall more near the bottom end.

But, a JSR-4's depth of 4-6 feet is what gives it the 'top range'. So what is the depth range of a TD-7 when a TD would range from 6-15 feet?

There is a book called "Precision Trolling". I'm not sure how many of the lures in question are there, but there are a ton of them. We use this book for walleye fishing all the time. It tells you how many feet of line to let out to get a certain lure to a certain depth. Very helpful. Hope this helps.

Rapala can't take into account all the variables such as line diameter, snaps or swivels, rod length, and the angle the angler is holding it, so they probably figured it's just best to give the the general range for each model.

I have used a DT16 in 4 feet of water by varying retrieve speed and rod height. The depths the have on the boxes are only a GUIDELINE.
