Hey guys, after a couple of weeks with terrible amount small pikes the same thing started yesterday. I was sitting in my float tube for hours and was looking for pikes in a snag heavy wood area. After getting some bites and a small pike again I've found a nice drop area off within sunken trees. I have to say, that my hatcam runs all the time, but she got some trouble with the cold weather. After a couple of hours in running I tend to save power. As the first zander hit the softbait I was loosing him wile rebooting the cam. Only five minutes later this beauty came um. As I promised here is the matching clip from the HATCAM I won. img689.imageshack.us/i/091101.mp4/I had two more zanders in the 24" size as above, but one was loosing in the wood, and the other was loosing by diving under the tube. Zanders are quite rare here, so I was happy about to find this school. All fishes will be able to grow...

Do they make hat cams with 12 volt leads you could hook to your boat battery. It would be a little cumbersome but would allow for filming non-stop if the memory card was big enough?

That is quite the water craft, knowing my luck I'd end up in the Atlantic, or get the hook stuck in the tube and rip a hole in her and sink !!!!

Way to go Jorg! ;D You should post this over at the forums Randy setup over at hatcams.com, I'm sure he'll be very excited! Or I'll just tell him to come here! All electronics do not like the cold, that is for sure!

I like the float tube cause its fast and easy to use. The worst thing is you don't get the permission to use a boat where you want and if so there are no ramps to slip. So you have to decide to use a small and easy to handle light weight boat or a flexible float tube. I have one small and a larger half boat with my buddy, but using seldom both. The link posted by tobi above is my Gunnison camo from another forum I made years ago. The strap for the depth finder is based on a idea by an old buddy who decided to left germany to canada in '05. Fear of a leak? Never, I use it for years and only one treble with a pike on gave em a slice. I pushed the finger tip on the leak and swam safely back. BTW: I am from the middle part of east germany and I believe almost everyone noticed the bad behavior in the chemistry industry till the end 80's. Zanders are very tasteful, but not there of ... all has gone to the rivers. This section of a locked branch stream is located below two old chemistry plants built in the 30's&40's and were periodic flooded over the years by the river with "I-don't-know" but definitely not very healthy. Most of this has gone over years since german reunion, but not all. Two weeks ago a 44" trophy northern came up and were released. The pikes are I am hunting for, so I was surprised with the zanders. I believe there are still some really huge fishes of species in it, but seldom and hard to catch. Is not a matter of course and sadly not common here to release legals sizes, but thats another story. I try to keep the nature and a fish should be caugt more than once in his lifetime.

Sorry I've been away from Rapalnation so long but I've been very busy. Anyway, congratulations 10tacle on the Hatcam win! That is a very cool video of that Zander you got there. Incredible how close it looks to the Walleye we get here. Almost indistinguishable. Great to see some fishing action from over there in Germany! Just makes you appreciate how fishing can bring people together from all over the world!
As far as the memory goes for the camcorders, we now carry the Kodak ZX1 to address many of the concerns people have mentioned here. The Camcorder is weatherproof. It also takes external SD cards. You pop in a 16 gb sd card and you can film for roughly 10 hours straight. It also uses AA batteries so your memory life is only limited to the amount of AA's you have with you. The great thing about our hatcam is that as the camcorder technology improves, so too does our hatcam. They won't stop making the standard tripod mount, so the pocket camcorders will continue to fit our hat. We should see memory and battery life get much better very quickly.
Thanks again for the video 10tacle and I look forward to seeing more of you videos!
