Fishing today and another snake...!

Headed out to the ocklawaha river today! Fished a new area that I've never bassfished. The town is called Eureka and the river there lead's up to Rodman Resevoir. It is awesome up that way. No tree's in the river like up my way. Hyacinth's everywhere and great looking water. My buddy wanted to flip, so he started out flipping. I tried for a while but got tired of not catching and went to a jig. (Yes a jig) something I have no confidence in but would love to! I've tried and tried but fish here just look at them and laugh. lol. I ended up getting it caught on a log about 12ft down and breaking it off :sad2:.. (More baitmonkey stuff I have to purchase again). I then went to a 3/8oz weight and a 7in black and blue culprit lookin hand poured worm. Caught 8 fish (3keepers) on that worm! After the 8th partner asked for one. lol. I was throwing to the cypress root's and you could fell the panfish hitting the worm but as soon as you got away from the tree the bass would hit! There is a drop off about 6 foot from the tree's and they were hangin out just over that drop off.. We caught all our fish today like that. Nothing but a mudfish in the hycinth's.. It was really awesome looking but after the front they just weren't using it for cover like normal.. Anyway nothing like skunkin' your partner who like's to rub it in your face when he skunk's you.... lol... Oh yea the snake.. Check this out (picture's are not that good) We saw this fish up ahead that was swimming really weird. We headed up to it and couldn't believe what it was. It was a big ol' cottenmouth with a catfish in it's mouth..! Never seen this my whole live and this is the second time this year......

Awesome pics of the snake having a fish dinner. I guess he got it all down!! Must have been interesting to see him inhale it!

That joker scared the hell out of me. I had caught that little cat just a few min. earlier and he swallowed the hook. I got the hook out and tossed him in the water. He didnt swim away so after about 5 min i leaned up to nudge him and that snake was on the other side of my tackle box (10 in away!) lookin' at me, then the cat, me, then the cat. I guess he figured he couldn't take me so he went over to the cat. It was really cool watching him eat it. and when he got it down pretty good I figured i was safe to get in a little closer for some good pictures. lol.

thats one of the most intresting things i have seen in a while, we just dont have much for snakes up here. glad for that, it makes for a large mouthful to take a sat that big

I HATE THEM THINGS

When I lived in Georgia we had to deal with them friggen things all the time when we went fishing on the ponds at FT.Stewart .I always carried a BIG stick when I went.

I never seen them eat a fish like that before

WOW! That pretty cool. I've heard them things can be nastly. Thank god we don't have those up here in Wisconsin. The only poisonous snakes we have are Timber Rattlers that only like rocks and Pine Snakes. Pine snakes get HUGE and will swim in the water after your Skittper Pop.

Another time when I was going to fish on shore, I got chased away by a Timber Rattler, which was kind of weird because they don't care for water. However the place I was fishing was basically a rock pile on the side of the road.
