I hit my hot spot yesterday with the J-9 S once again twitching it on the surface. I wasn't having much luck this time. I caught a 12" 1 pound largemouth. The largemouth was pretty chubby for its size with a girth of 8.5". As I kept on moving along my hot spot I lost a fish while I was just reeling in the J-9. Later I kept on moving along from pond to pond checking out most of my other hot spots but had no luck. Other lures I tried throwing included SSR-7 SH, SSR-5 P, JSR-4 SD, DTFAT-3 S, F-7 B, and SSR-7 RFSH. Later just before hitting the road I hit my hot spot once more and gave it a few more casts. I had the SSR-7 RFSH on already and decided to keep it on instead of wasting time switching lures. While twitching it on the surface I saw a fish come up for it. Kept on twitching it and then the fish grabbed it. From the way it felt I thought I had a nice bass on. As it got closer I thought I was seeing the mouth of a nice largemouth about to jump out. Landed a nice 11" 1.1 pound crappie. This 11" crappie had a girth of 10". Pretty soon after that I hit the road.
I was happy to finally catch my first calico of the fall. And the lure that I caught it with was the Shallow Shad Rap.
