I actually managed to catch something today All 3 were kind of small but fish all the same. The biggest was a St. Peter's fish and the other two were Lissner's bleaks. Caught them on a small backwater of the Yarkon River near where I live. I was hoping for some catfish but maybe another day...... Small St. Peter's Fish Lissner's Bleak I know -- baitfish..... But we don't have any game fish here I did nearly catch this Kingfisher on an SP05 Kingfisher that went for my SP05

Since it doesn't rain in Israel from mid-April to the begining of November, and then, as of the last 5 years, not much at all, the rivers that do continue to flow year round are fed by springs, which are also dependent on the rainfall. So there is never much of a flow in the rivers (except for the Dan in the North). So not sure why the water looks murky if it's running slow???

Congratulation for this nice shoot.

Nice pics Nigel Is there any fishing in the Sea of Galilee That is one spot I must fish before I go. Lots. They fish it commercially. Only problem -- no game fish but loads of St. Peter's Fish (average about 600g), 3 different species of Barbel, Catfish a bunch of other species and Carp - some of them pretty big. There are also Grey Mullet (I know they are sea fish but here in Israel we have ways of doing things different ). Let me know when your coming......

Darting from one perch to another, diving into the water to get some little fish, sitting to swallow it and off again. Really quite difficult to get a good photo. Glad you liked it We actually have 3 different kinds of kingfisher here - the one in the photo, a black and white spotted one and a larger beautiful colored one with a large brown beak (makes a lot of noise too).
