OK. We all know the techniques that work for bass when using the x-rap but what technique works best for saltwater fishing? A lot of saltwater species, like mackerel, bonito, barracuda etc. are very fast swimmers and are not 'lazy feeders' that need coxing to bite like freshwater bass, so is there still a need for all the jerking, twitching and pausing that our freshwater brothers (and sisters) practice? What I mean is that a you can troll x-raps (and magnums) very successfully - so why make hard work jerking and twitching (it gets tiring after a few hours standing on uneven rocks ) when a nice steady retrieve makes the lure work like natural baitfish. I've watched mackerel, garfish and little tunny chase small baitfish making the water boil as they chase them down. I've had fish follow a slow moving lure but loose interest whereas a fast moving one gets the strikes. Saltwater fishing is a whole lot different from freshwater fishing. So, what technique works the most consistent for most saltwater species (not including tarpon - we don't have any of them here )?

If you're gonna use an XRap thn you're best shot is a steady retrieve. Might even want to try a constant jerking.
