You guys probably noticed that I haven't been that active recently - that's because I've been busy creating a new website: Fishing in IsraelIt's a real unique name Anyways, let me know what you think and, yes I know that the Forum isn't up and running just yet - but it will be over the next few days. Ted, I put a link to RapalaNation in the left panel - does that mean I get a link on this site? If anybody thinks it looks good or you have any [constructive] comments - then say it here.... It was really you guys that gave me the idea to create the site, so kudos to you all - especially Ted Blessings, Nigel

Hey, that's a pretty sweet layout - is it a free board?
Have you used Joomla a lot? I would love to be able to have a board, yet have a more robust look & feel for galleries and so forth...

Hey, that's a pretty sweet layout - is it a free board? Have you used Joomla a lot? I would love to be able to have a board, yet have a more robust look & feel for galleries and so forth... The website is hosted on Bluehost.com (which I pay for - I have some other sites as well) and I created the whole website using Joomla, a nice template that came with a Joomla book I bought, some plugins and a ton of hours of coding, graphic stuff and writing It is the first Joomla website that I've done and it was a great learning experience. I figure I know my way around the basics of Joomla pretty good now. I will add the Forum over the next few days. It will probably be the Agora module. Any tips on running a Forum Ted?

LOL...Im hardly an expert on running a forum - but Im pretty impressed with how the site looks so far.
I keep hearing about the new version of ProBoards coming - for years now - and Im pretty tired of running this antiquated look & feel of the site.
There is only so much I can do on here...

I'm still working on the new website and am in the process of getting the Forum module set up the way I want it. I built the site using Firefox 3.6 as my browser and only afterwards I checked the site in Internet Explorer 7 (I don't have Windows on my computer ;D) on the office computer -- Yuck! It doesn't look good at all in IE7 - what a heap of All the font sizes are wrong, IE can't seem to manage transparent png's, nor css text shadows. Folks, if you haven't tried Firefox 3.6 yet - give it a blast - it blows the socks off of IE any day of the week! For those of you that missed the link, here it is again (shameless plug!): Fishing in Israel

I agree, IE stinks! I did this whole site in FireFox, and then viewed it on someone else's computer - yech! It basically made the site look like crap - not that is is any prize, but cross-browser funcionality testing stinks. Ironic, since it kinda is what I do for a living...

The problems with IE is that it does not follow the W3C standards. All the books and forums about html and css all cuss IE and the hacks needed to make things look OK. It is much easier just coding for standard compliant browsers like Firefox -- why make life difficult?

I eventually downloaded IE8 and it is better than IE7, but still not better than FF - maybe try that and see how it looks? Or just throw in a disclaimer at the bottom of your site like I did on mine....

Anyway I don't have Microsoft Windows - I use Linux, which is as better than Windows as Firefox is than IE

nice site, please let us be informed It's starting to come together quite nicely. I've got the Forums up and running but so far I'm the only member It's been only 2 weeks since i put it up so Google hasn't got it listed yet....... so obviously folks can't find it yet One thing that I have started to do is, through a new GMail account, create Google Maps with directions to the various fishing locations. The beauty of this is that you fill in a description of the route and the place which give you the opportunity to create hyper links -- that is links back to my website. Here's one example: Directions to Tel DorYou can click on any of the links in the left hand pane for more info. You can even click on the icons or blue lines on the actual map. Only one problem I found is that if the roads are minor ones then Google tries to be smart and alters the route a bit - quite annoying but overcomable. Here an example: Directions to Sydney AlleyYou can see on the map that the blue line continues north and then doubles back on itself instead of turning left where I mapped it (I gave up editing it after about 6 tries). I just put a little disclaimer in the 'Driving Instructions'. For folks that want to have a look at the website here is a link: Fishing in Israel
