saturday i was finally able to take my bike and go fishing for the first time of the year.
it was cold and windy. i tried a couple of places but didn't see anything. i then moved again to another spot. and here i got the first fish, a small chub (19 cm, about 7 1/2 ").
after a few casts, i lost my spinner. ok, i didn't like that one, so i put on another one and restarted casting.
i got a garbage sack, i don't know who throwed it into the channel, however i got quite angry about it.
after that, i caught this one
and that one too.
then i got this rudd.
after this, it was getting late. i decided to move to another place, just to wait for the sunset. the moon was shining in the night.
i changed my spool and started using a 0.35 mm (12 lbs) line. i put on a steel wire, another spinner, and started casting in the dark.
it was quite cold, but i heard immediately the wels catfishes hitting water with their tails. i saw one near me, and launched on him... he missed the bait. ok, i didn't wait and the next cast was the good one... the rod went down, the drag started singing and i started fighting.
after 30 minutes of fight in the dark, i finally got it. and my wrists killed me when i had to take it out of the water. but i got it. and it's 102 cm (40")
maybe not a special fish, but with a medium rod it was a good challenge.
by the way, while i was unhooking the fish, he slapped me with his tail (i had a black line on my face for 2 or 3 days!!!). i released him and returned home.
i'd really like to dedicate this fish to a friend of mine who passed away a few weeks ago... ciao giorda
