I live in CT and we have Opening Day for trout season every year starting on the 3rd Saturday in April. Well I headed out with a buddy on his canoe for Opening Day on Saturday. We were trolling around the lake we were at. I stuck with a SSR-7 SD while my buddy stuck with his lucky spoon. While we were trolling in our route, I reeled in my SSR to check and see if I had any weeds on. While reeling it in fast, I get a nice hit. 16" 2 pound brown trout. Later while we're still paddling along, rod takes a nice bend. I set the hook and this fish feels nice. Saw the fish jump 3 times. Landed a new personal best 19" 3.8 pound rainbow trout! Kept on trolling and tried casting in areas where there were lots of breaks on the surface. My buddy caught a nice 16" brown and I lost a fish casting with 2 other hits while trolling. We stopped at a few spots that looked good for bass. I caught a 10" and 12" largemouth with the SSR-7 SD. Once we were done at that lake, we went to get something to eat and then hit a river. My buddy stuck with trout worms in a small canal where trout like to swim into through a pipe from the main river. He caught 3 brook trout there and 1 bluegill. I caught a small 4" native brown trout and 7" bluegill with a CD-5 RT. Also lost a nice trout and caught a 15" brown at the main river with a F-5 PD.
