I was fishing the other morning from a small harbor wall with the water very clear. The harbor wall is built atop a reef of which you can still see at the end of the harbor wall. The water is about 2.5 meters deep at that point. Anyways, I was playing around with a CD1 trying for some Sea bream when I noticed this red cuttlefish swimming after my CD1. It wasn't trying that hard but seemed interested. I made a few more casts near him and let the CD1 sink down to where he was. Again he showed some interest, swimming after it but didn't actually make a move on it It would have been interesting catching one of them

Sorry to hear the fish never hit it It was real interesting to actually see a cuttlefish in the sea rather than just on National Geographic. Maybe the CD1 was too small for him and didn't think it was worth chasing after.

Like to see a pic of that fish if you can get it to bite. Just make sure it's not within the next 5 days. Might be tough to beat that in the photo contest.

It won't be this leg of the competition - the weather is very stormy with 2.5m waves There were two students from the sailing school when I was there last week that told me that they often come in the evenings to fish for squid using those big shrimp-shaped jerkbaits with the mass of barb-less hooks (looks like a skirt). I'm sure they catch the odd cuttlefish that way too. Actually, most of the anglers here in Israel aren't that clued up about different species and often gets names wrong I shall definitely go fishing there again soon though....
